Attorney Tracey Wood appointed to Board of Regents National DUI DefenseWISCONSIN'S ONLY NCDD REGENT

The National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Attorney Tracey A. Wood to the Board of Regents.

Attorney Tracey A. Wood was appointed to the twelve member governing board for the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD). Attorney Wood is the first ever Wisconsin attorney to serve on the Board of Regents, as well as the first female lawyer and the youngest member of that board.

For one mother facing a very long prison and probation sentence and loosing her children as a result of a one-time mistake in judgment and a few too many drinks coupled with unethical promises from a district attorney, Attorney Tracey Wood was a life raft in the midst of a shipwreck. For a young man from Chicago Illinois at a family affair in Wisconsin that included the customary beer and brats before a drive to the local store, Attorney Tracey Wood made the difference between his life going to ruins with a criminal charge and a noncriminal conviction of a first drunk driving offense.

For more than a decade, Attorney Tracey Wood has been successfully defending the rights of people wrongfully and falsely accused of crimes, accused of driving under the influence, and appealing prior convictions or sentences for a drunk driving offense. For that reason, as well as her phenomenal memory and astute ability to interpret and utilize criminal law, codes and statutes, attorneys from across the United States regularly ask for her expertise and consultation on their cases to build a winning defense.

Attorney Tracey A. Wood earned her J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, Wisconsin in 1992. She graduated with a B.A. at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1988.

Attorney Wood is admitted to the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin, U.S. District Court Western District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Court of Appeals 7th Circuit. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and the Dane County Bar Association (DCBA).

Attorney Tracey Wood is president-elect of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL) and past president of the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is a member of the National College for DUI Defense Board of Regents and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).

In practice since 1992, Attorney Tracey Wood devotes her professional time and energies to helping people accused (or convicted) of drunk driving and criminal offenses ranging from first offense misdemeanor drunk driving and disorderly conduct charges to felony drunk driving and aggravated sexual assault charges, people indicted on federal charges or prosecuted by state attorneys, and people appealing prior convictions and sentences in both state and federal appellate courts.

Attorney Tracey Wood is nationally known for her expertise in drunk driving defense law. She regularly presents at criminal defense seminars sharing her expertise from more than a decade of trying drunk driving cases and criminal cases and her years as the first attorney ever certified as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Instructor.

Attorney Tracey Wood is also known for her expertise in defending individuals accused of other federal and state crimes. Attorney Wood successfully litigated United States v. Andrez Perez, 50 F. 3d 396 7th cir. (1995). Tracey's most famous trial win to date was in the federal Fort McCoy military vehicle theft case which received national media coverage and even received a nod from Jay Leno on the Tonight Show.

Tracey Wood was a contributing author to Drunk Driving Defense, by Lawrence Taylor and Stephen Oberman, which is available through bookstores (such as Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com). She has authored several articles that have been published in numerous trade journals, such as Challenging Prior Operating While Intoxicated Convictions, published in The Wisconsin Defender, Justice For All, January 2002 edition. Presently, she is co-authoring a new book entitled, Wisconsin DUI Defense - The Law and Practice, with Attorney James Nesci, which will be available in 2007.
